Chances to be Branches

I have been so privileged to serve on the Outreach committee to see firsthand how Union helps people near and far.  John 15:5 says "I am the vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."

As we observe the Lenten season, we often talk of making sacrifices.  To bear fruit, we must take that a step farther.  Small sacrifices in our lives, can mean so much to someone else.  As you skip that piece of pie, bypass the stop at Starbucks, or resist that sweater you don't need, I hope you will consider bearing fruit by using that money towards an Outreach ministry.  This offering is used for Outreach.  Supporting outreach ministries is a great way to branch out to others.

On April 30, we will be observing Native American Ministries Sunday.  This ministry provides urban ministries, community building, scholarships, and efforts to protect the Native culture.  It is a call to remember that both on and off reservations, Native American families struggle with poverty, alcoholism, drug abuse and suicide.

I hope you are blessed this Lenten season by branching out and bearing fruit.  “The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” – Matthew 25:40
