November Newsletter ~ Message from Pastor Tim Woodard

     October, 2016

Jeremiah 29:11- “For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” (NRSV)

This passage is among the most loved in Scripture for good reason. We all want to look forward to a hopeful and prosperous future. I am excited about the future of our church. Dr. Don Batz will be returning to Quincy and delivering the message on November 6th.  A Thanksgiving dinner will again be served for anyone in our community who wants to share the holiday with others. The season of Advent is coming soon and our youth will be participating in all the worship services. We will again enjoy music specials and favorite carols. What a great time of year and perfect time to invite others to our church.

I love seeing all the new and return visitors who have joined us for worship. Plans are already in the making for an outdoor worship service and church picnic at South Park on May 21 of next year. I know, it’s not like me to plan so far ahead; I guess Jeremiah inspired me and made me come alive. Remember the quote from Howard Thurman I shared in a recent message: “Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and then go do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”

This ministry we share does require that we all come alive and work together, in every way possible, relying on God for strength and direction. May we all be determined, inspired and excited to be a church that has come alive and serves as a beacon of light in this often hectic and chaotic world.

We can make a difference! All who follow the Lord have the promise of a future with hope. As a church, God will point us in the right direction, then we need to rely on the GPS system: Give ~ Pray ~ Serve.

The grace and peace of Christ be with you,

                                                                    Pastor Tim
