Union United Methodist Church in Quincy, Illinois, is actively seeking to fill part-time Music Ministry positions.

 Hours and Salary: +/-8 hours per week, range $7,800.00 - $9,100.00/year

- Recruit singers from within as well as outside Union UMC to form a strong vocal ensemble.
- Choose from existing music files or purchase (from funds within Music budget) new sheet music for paid staff musicians
   and the ensemble to sing
- Rehearse with the paid staff musicians at a mid-week rehearsal to ensure they are fluent in the hymns to be sung
   at the Sunday service, and to prepare special music to be presented on a regular basis
- Rehearse with the volunteer ensemble on Sunday morning before the worship service (or a time to be agreed upon).
- Perform vocalist duties (hymns, special music) on a random, as-needed basis, and definitely in the absence
   of the staff musicians or ensemble
- Plan special music for specific church seasons, such as Lent, Easter, Advent, Christmas
- Schedule guest musicians on occasion and for special seasons of the year
- Work closely with the Media Tech/Sound staff to ensure that the necessary microphones and associated equipment
  are requested and placed as needed, and the sound quality (via sound checks and equipment testing) is appropriate.
- Ensure all music-related information is submitted by the deadline set by Media Tech for the creation of on-screen
   presentations and bulletins.
- Work closely with the Pastor to create a meaningful worship service. Try to coordinate the music with the sermon theme
   and work to ensure the service flows smoothly

Hours and Salary: +/- 10 hours per week, Range $9,100.00 - $11,400.00 /year

Includes duties for Choir Director as listed above plus the following:

- Schedule yearly tuning of the on-site pianos
- Schedule any necessary repairs for the organ (John Basinger maintains our organ)
- Submit the music budget to the appropriate committee each fall
- Submit a short report for Church Council meetings 6 times/year, relating to activities with the music department.

- Write a short article for the monthly Newsletter relating to activities within the music department
- Attend monthly Music/Worship committee meetings to do advance planning
- Accompany the Pastor when he preaches at Good Samaritan or Sunset Nursing Homes, approximately once a month
- Work closely with the Pastor to create a meaningful worship service that flows well. Coordinate music with sermon/theme.
- Work closely with the Media Tech/Sound staff to ensure the proper equipment is in place and functioning, in order to
  produce a worship service that has good sound and visual quality. Ensure all music-related information is submitted
  by the deadline set by the Media Tech for the creation of on-screen presentations and bulletins
